President’s Message:

As the dahlia season comes to a close this year we have seen an unusual event in that many of the AA and A varieties are just now beginning to bloom for their first time.  I have recorded close to 30 inches of rain since my mid-May planting here in Prospect, and that   record rainfall with less than normal sun, appears to have been the reason for this late blooming of the larger varieties.

Our October bloom contest is always fun so if you still have some, bring them along.  One prize for the Best AA, A, or B bloom and another prize for one in BB size on down.  Display them in your own containers.

Root cutting is always part of our October Meeting, so for our new members, this gives you a chance to see it done by our society members.  Storage techniques will also be demonstrated.
