Program: Discussion of our August
Show
and
A Mini-Dahlia Show
President's Message…
Dear Fellow Dahlia
Growers,
Another season is
about to end, which will be remembered as one of the coolest summers in years -
complaints abound of unripened tomatoes and powdery
mildew running rampant in the dahlia gardens.
September turned the tables though and the sunny clear days produced
great blooms. Frost will soon be
expected and will turn the dahlia foliage black. Once the foliage blackens from
frost all of your dahlias will look the same!
So, remember to check your plants to make sure all are tagged properly
and mark your best plant stocks for growing next year.
Our October meeting
will be a review of our August show. I
encourage members to attend to give their input on the
show, both likes and dislikes so that we can improve to make our show even
better in the future.
We will also have a
mini-show for those who wish to still be in a little competitive mode. There
will be two (cash) awards given - Large AA, A, or B, and Small BB à
down. Hopefully we will still have
blooms by then…remember to stage your blooms in your own containers.
See you at the
meeting!
