President's Message…

Our October meeting featured many beautiful dahlia blooms grown by several of our members for the mini dahlia show.  Dave and Dottie Crockett won both the large and small categories with their superb entries.

We are now into the first week of November and still haven't experienced a killing frost.  The dahlia beds are full of color, but the plants are starting to look tired due to the diminished daylight hours and lower air temperatures.  The dahlias and the growers need a rest!

Our November meeting will include the annual election of officers, planning of our winter meeting programs, and organizing our 2004 Christmas Party.  Please try to attend this meeting and come with a few ideas that you would like to see for programs this winter.  The ADS Slide Programs have an extensive list of various titles to choose from.  Or, maybe you would like to see more "hands on" workshops on showing or cultivating dahlias.  The society is here for you and our members.  Your input and attendance will make the meetings much more productive and enjoyable for all.

For our newly joining members, please remember that the Connecticut Dahlia Society meetings are always held on the second Saturday of the month.  Directions to the meeting are available from any of the officers or members.

See you on the 13th
