Our annual Dahlia
Root Auction is here again! This
is an important fund raising for our society and its
success depends upon how many dahlia roots will be on hand to auction off. There are several growers in our society who
donate dozens of surplus roots every year from their own stock. Without these generous donations there would
be no auction. This year I would like to
see each and every member of CDS add to this sale. Any amount of surplus roots would be greatly
appreciated and help towards funding our Dahlia Show in August.
Joe Jasonis has
again accepted the offer to be our auctioneer.
Please make sure that donated roots are…
ü
Clean
ü
Clearly labeled
ü
Have at least one eye
ü
Are of healthy stock
This sale is open to the public, so invite
your friends or neighbors! The sale is a
great way to introduce new growers to our favorite flower – the Dahlia!
Our February meeting had one of the largest
membership attendances for our monthly meetings. A special thanks
goes out to the Finance Committee for all of their hard work on the 2005 annual
budget. Vice President Marge Schnerr and
Treasurer Donna Paternostro spent several hours
putting the annual budget report together for the committee. My heartfelt thanks go to these ladies on a job
well done.
A slide presentation was shown on new 2005
dahlia introductions and also on basket arrangements. There were lots of comments from the
audience.
Please
remember to mark the date on your calendar for the root auction – March 20th. And, please donate some of your roots for
this important fundraiser.
See you at the
auction…
