President’s Message:

Again we appreciate the hospitality of the Barbara and Jon in volunteering this year

to host our Picnic. If you have not attended either of the last two picnics at their home

you should not miss this one.  Their English Gardens will be in full bloom at this date as

will the  “top bloom” of many of Jon’s 500 dahlias.

The society provides the hot dogs and hamburgers and everyone else contributes their

favorite picnic specialties. In order to have a varied assortment of dishes, we ask you to contact Barbara and Jon to see what they might like you to bring.  Telephone them at: (203) 259-8359 or e-mail Jon at: jwwooten@optonline.net.  We all look forward to a

nice day of camaraderie, great food, their beautiful gardens and a lively raffle run by

Nick Paternostro.  If you would like to also contribute an item for the raffle, that will be appreciated.

Speaking of rain as I did in the June Newsletter, it just does not seem to stop. We got the Display Garden in at Elizabeth Park in on May 28th, a little later than usual due to the rainy season, but expect that it will bloom in August on time.  Perhaps from the rainy start of this growing season, it will not be one that is as dry as the one last year, let’s hope.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the Picnic!

Marge Schnerr, President

Peters, M.D.

This new publication has just been received by your President and you may see it at the Picnic when we decide whether to buy copies of it for re-sale.  The tip that I got from it on dealing with cutworms is worth the price of it alone!
